Hit tab to enter edit mode.
Click on the edge select icon.
Click again anywhere.
Crash.

Here is a video.

This has happened every time I have tried to edit a mesh in 2.8. I can render and work with materials, and I think just about eveything else, with an occasional crash. But this is consistent.
It will also crash when I use the keyboard 1,2, or 3 to switch select modes.

Please do not paste walls of text like that directly in reports/comments, such reports must be attached as text files (or use the ##

## codeblock syntax) instead.Crash happens in OpenGL driver it’d seem, @fclem not sure whether you already have similar report or not?

Always crash with the last release of Blender 2.8 :-(
They have changed icons but the bug is still here !!!
IMAC mid 2011, AMD 6970M HD, 16Go RAM, El Capitan
Can someone test if this happens only if changing to edge edit mode? Does it crash if changing to face edit mode? Does it crash if opening a file that was saved in thoses modes in 2.79?
I had just try to save a blender file in 2.796 in edit mod (Face selected) and it crashes at the open... Then it's not only icons but problem of selection edges and faces in Edit Mod
IMAC mid 2011, AMD 6970M HD, 16Go RAM, El Capitan
I Hope that will help developpers to solve the problem
Thanks for all ;-)
The crash is off course in Blender 2.8 ;-)
Does the wireframe mode work without crash?
I haven't try yet... I will try tomorrow and I will tell you... ;-)
Best regards
I had try in Wireframe et it’s the same problem :-(
iMac mis 2011, El Capitan, AMD HD 6970M, 16Go RAM, Blender 2.8
I'm asking if the wireframe SHADING MODE does not crash. I am NOT asking if edit mode in wireframe does crash. Can you confirm it does not crash?
Oh Sorry ?
Yes the Shading Mod Wireframe in Object mod is OK ?
All the shading are ok without crash
Thanks for your help ! ?
Tried again but same problem. I reloaded factory settings just to be sure. I can tab into edit mode for any object (tried the default cube and also added a cylinder) and can manipulate the vertices. But if I even just click on the edge select icon (they are new since I last tried) then I get spinning wheel and crash.
I tried again with wireframe shading and this time used the 2 key (top row) to switch to edge mode and got the same crash.
See the attached log.
Please let me know how else I can help.

Can you try the new build and see if it makes any difference for you?
Wonderful !!! ?
Thanks very much !!!
I had tried in Edit mod in Solid mod and Wireframe and the select face edge and vertices are OK ??
CONGRATULATIONS to all of developers of Blender

Thanks for testing, closing now. If the original report still has the issue let us know and we re-open this.
Great job Clément and everyone else who is working on this! Everything seems to be working fine here on my MacBook Pro.
Thanks so much. You guys rock. :)
Yes, I believe I was the original report Dalai, so we can consider this closed.
