System Information
Platform: Linux
renderer: 'GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2'
vendor: 'NVIDIA Corporation'
version: '4.5.0 NVIDIA 384.130'

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.80 (sub 23), branch: blender2.8, commit date: 2018-09-20 22:21, hash: fbc837b2f8, type: Release
build date: 2018-09-20, 23:05:34
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Switching display method causes object to be invisible and blender may crash

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Go to workspace Texture Paint
Start changing the display methods back and forth between the three available options.

*Notes
First time it happened, blender crashed on me. It was while building a scene and having only a few objects and materials on there.
Repeating the steps and I noticed the object turned invisible instead of blender crashing. I expect the phenomenon is an error and to be the cause of the crash.

Can't reproduce it right now. Can you test again in a more recent build, please?

Also which "display methods" do you mean exactly? (a screenshot would be useful)

There is now four display methods with the wireframe mode and still have the invisible object thing happening with blender2.8, commit date: 2018-09-28 13:32, hash: 0f03750f4f

Texture Paint mode

Changing the display method to Solid

Objects can still be selected.

Had blender crashing again due to this by having multiple objects in the scene and click-holding mouse 1 while switching modes by moving back and forth over the display buttons (wireframe, solid, ...)

I'm pretty sure this was fixed since the bug was reported, there was a bug switching shading modes which was fixed. This also was crashing for me two weeks ago but works now.

I can't reproduce the invisible object issue nor the crashing in latest 2.8 version as of today so the bug has been resolved.
