Windows 7, Nvidia g force gt730

v2.79b 64 bit{F4852977}

Never ran, fresh install

Dos screen displays for a nanosecond, program exits.

Dos error: AL lib: UpdateDeviceParams: Failed to set 44100hz, got 48,000hz instead

No error file printed to Temp

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

Try running Blender from the command line. That way, the terminal window will not close and you can see any error messges.

That AL lib error is from trying to set the audio sample rate and failing.

The AL lib error is the error message from the command line. I am running an on board generic sound chip at 44.1 hz, I don't know why Blender is returning this sample rate. The behavior is the same at a dos prompt.

the sound message is just a warning, and is unrelated to your actual issue of blender not starting.

If Blender won't run on a tried and true system, I would call that a bug.

We are sympathetic, but the problem for us is no evidence of a bug. The sound message is a warning. If you can show us an error, we can fix it.

Blender runs on thousands of Win 7 machines but will not start on yours. That suggests an issue with your machine.

My first random guess would be anti-virus software interfering.

I tried a lot of different things, the thing I got to work was an older version of Blender. Thank you for your time and effort.
