When using Dynotopo and doing extreme extrusions like using Snake Hook Brush , if you want to remove those extrusions like with the flatten brush, artifacts remain behind, you can refresh if you go to edit mode and go back to sculpt by pressing the Tab key, but not always works; this didn't happen in previous versions; here's what I mean:

Put an object in the scene; go to sculpt mode; activate dynotopo, then do extreme deformations with snake hook brush; then try to eliminate those extrusions like using the flatten brush for example; parts and bits of the mesh stay behind;

IIRC, this was a problem a long time ago as well. So it seems like the problem has come back from the dead to haunt us once more.
This seems to work well in the 2.79 master branch.

Sebastian Parborg (zeddb) renamed this task from Refresh issue when using Dynotopo to Refresh issue when using Dyntopo.

IMO @Sergey Sharybin (sergey) should be our guy here. The problem gets solved when you switch to edit mode. It seems like sculpt mode Dyntopo is missing some mesh update with some brushes.

I am confused here. Silent re-assignment doesn't make it clear whether someone is already looking into the issue or not.
Shall i take over here?

I recently noticed this problem under Linux and Nvidia GeForce 1050 ti. Not critical issue but really annoying.
