Near No Implementation for HP Pavilion x360 #59264

I own an HP Pavilion x360 that I take with me everywhere I go. I decided to download Blender after going on a spree of attempting to find good animation software and seeing that 2.8 had newly added animation. The issues withstanding I've seen with a couple of other programs.

Main issue here is that the program does not recognize that the stylus is a stylus, in that it treats it as if it were a mouse.

There's a tiny bit of input lag that has been present in only a few programs - I touch the stylus to the screen and move it a tiny bit, about 1.5cm, and the line draws from the starting point to the stylus' current position and stays on the stylus for the entire time. It doesn't matter how long I take, there's always the radius of about a centimeter before the stroke finally meets the cursor.

The program also doesn't recognize the stylus' pressure, even though I've guaranteed the Tablet Pressure setting is turned on. This is also a factor of the program treating the stylus as a mouse, I'd have to assume.

These issues make it difficult to do what I've been trying to do. While it's not impossible, it does tend to be infuriating. Attached is a .gif that shows the difficulty even writing with these issues, as well as a few example strokes.

We have other open reports for these two issues:

  • #55589 (Microsoft Surface pens does not send first events when moves)
  • #57869 (No pressure sensitivity with Surface Pen on Surface Laptop)

Even if it's different hardware, the underlying issue is almost certainly the same.
