unwanted lighting behaviour on the Earth model in EEVEE #59961

error
shadow of the sun Lamp does illuminate around the solid earth and leaves an awkward unrealistic shadow on the bottom half
additionally the Clouds are shining bright around the eclipse where they shouldn`t.

steps to reproduce the error

  • theoreticly, you just need a sphere with a Texture, a slightly bigger sphere with a cloud node setup and an even bigger sphere with just the eclipse.
    Unfortunatly the textures and materials are quiet complex and big so i wont expect you to rebuild it exactly how I did it, but you may find the issue by just looking at the settings in the blend. File
    but if you discovered the problem already somewhere else, I would really appreciate, if you could inform me about any solution for it.
    sorry for not being able to make an easy and simple reproduction but I hope that the given information clarifies the problem enough for you to be useful of some sort.

If you want realistic results, you should use ray tracers (like cycles)

Eevee is a rasterizer render engine and problems like this are inherent and expected (because you will not get a physically correct render of the scene).
