Short description of error
Object selection highlight not updating or behaving in a confusing manner

i found myself spending alot of time searching for the little orange mark in the outlier
it is most uncomfortable when it is inside the hierarchy.

  • there is no way to change the color or size of the little annoying orange mark
  • I think you lost the option to scale only text in outliner

I'm a bit unsure what the complaint here is about.

The orange mark shows that it is the current active and selected object.
The black outline means that it is the active object (but not selected).

it is confusing when i select object in the outliner and then selecting in the 3d viewport because in the outliner the selection line
remains on the previous object that i selected in the outliner
i think that it needs to jump to the active object but it is only my opinion .

and the contrast between active object marked in orange and in slightly brighter text to other unselected objects is not clear .
and it will be very nice if right click will create a box to select more then one object but again it is only my opinion .

Thank you

This seems to be a feature request then. The outliner is still going through quite a few design iterations so things will probably change a few time more.

However, if you want to post a proposal on how you want it to work, https://blender.community/c/rightclickselect/ is the place for that.
