And wireframe too heavy.

Idk if it is bug or intended, but it will be nice, if it will work like on the 2nd or 3rd picture: much more readable.
And when x-ray is on, wireframe on the background will be faded too, accordingly slider-setting.

This is a feature request, not a bug.

Here is a proof of concept screencap when using facing ratio to remove backfacing geometry. There is issue with loose verts and loose edges but they can be isolated. The biggest issue is with non manifold surfaces where boundary edges disapear if the view is not aligned with the surface (i.e: a plane).

Also when using Xray, you can see "floating" geometry that is not backfacing.

The feature is clearly interesting for the "hidden wire" display aimed at retopology workflows.

@ideasman42 @WilliamReynish My proposal for this is to only allow backface culling of the edit cage if we are not in xray mode.

The biggest issue I see is with non manifold geometry: As this uses vertex normal (not face normals), wires/vertices can have the tendency to disappear even if not really backfacing.

This is more a feature request than a bug. Putting low priority.

ok, let it be so!
