the blender file is the wanderer from the blender eevee samples, but it doesn't matter, it happens with all the files, only in the models with heavy geometry it is easy to notice ...
haven't you seen the video I've attached ??

the step is

  • 1 make a geometry model so that it becomes heavy to be manipulated
  • 2 hide most of the geometry
  • 3 try editing the vertices or faces, and you will notice that it continues to be very slow as if it were still calculating all the geometry and not just the visible one

Please attach a .blend file anyway as requested in the bug submission form. It's probably related to specific modifiers or other setup.

Even though navigation in the viewport is fast and there are modifiers on the mesh, selection and modifications in edit mode is painfully slow, even if most of the geometry is hidden.

I generally have a lot of issues editing linked objects and it's even worse when they use modifiers.
You could test if making all the meshes a single-user copy will work around the issue.

this problem in particular concerns general editing mode, not gpus.
