Short description of error
Dragging the image into blender window to import image changes the resolution of image into square. It also reduces the quality of image as well. It worked fine until March 18 build.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • open blender
  • drag external image into blender window

I can't reproduce the issue in Ubuntu 18.04.2 with today's build 009dbc2bc9.
What image format are you trying to add? Can you send me the image and maybe a blend file to test?

Also cannot reproduce.

  • would be good to try with Factory Settings (to make sure no addon is involved...)
  • would be good to upload the image here (as @nacioss already mentioned)
  • where exactly are you dragging from (I assume the OS filebrowser)?
  • where exactly are you dragging to (Node Editor, 3DView, ...)?

I loaded the factory settings. It solved the problem.
