Short description of error
I bought a keyboard with programmable keys. Im using the windows character map cause i dont want to ruin current hotkeys, but I noticed that special characters such as ÀÁÆÊ arent recognizable, right now they all read as ALTNumberPad0, can you look into this?

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
set up programmable key to identify as a custom character
go to key map in blender, assign the custom character hotkey (only recognizes it as ALTNumberPad0

At the moment you can only bind keys that have a ascii character:

@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) were there any plans to change this soonish? (And isn't there already a ticket for this? I can't find it...)

Would be great if we can add these custom keys because i dont really wanna mess with the keys you guys have set at the moment, ideally would like to cherry pick hotkeys and put them on my G keys for accessibility, espically when it comes to plugins and hotkeyying those

Not sure if this would be difficult to add but it would be much appreciated

Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) lowered the priority of this task from Confirmed, Medium to Confirmed, Low.

I'm not aware of another task for this.
