Why remove the Remove Doubles functionality, especially the convenience of it being visible at the bottom of the context menu?

@yaelvalle It was renamed. The functionality is exactly the same.
It is still at the bottom of the vertex context menu, moved in the sub-menu Merge Vertices .
You can add to quick favoritesm if you need faster access. It is in the Merge Menu(Alt-M) also.

Yes, I've added it to quick favorites, which helps. Though it would be nice to at least have it appear when one hits Alt-M. Currently it does not, which is probably not ideal since it now resides in that menu.

It does appear when using Alt-M. If not, that’s a bug.

It _does_ appear when using Alt-M. If not, that’s a bug.

Thanks William. Yes, you're right, it does appear with Alt-M, but only when I switched back to the default Blender Keymap (all my custom shortcuts remained the same, since they were previously saved, but access is regained to the "Select With" and "Spacebar Action" preferences menu (which disappears under custom saves) and apparently this Merge By Distance command as well).

That's a shame. Changing the name breaks many tutorials. I don't see the point in renaming things like 'Remove Doubles' it will just cause confusion for existing users. I do understand that 'Merge by Distance' is more logical. Are there many other functional name changes? Is there a comparison/translation list for 2.79 -> 2.8?
