Selecting a (part of) mesh in edit mode shows the visual feedback only in instanced collection
and/or in all linked objects.

Works now for the instanced scene: 6f9819e5fd

There are still visual glitches in linked-duplicated objects after switching vertex/edge/face select modes:

Selecting vertices, lines or faces in one object shouldn't show the selection in all other linked objects.
Tested with current master tip, it seems to be still broken.

I personaly think the design is insane;-)
At lest in 2.79 was the selection in liked objects in sync …
