Child Of constraint bug #65820

opened 2019-06-14 22:48:46 +02:00 by Anoca · 9 comments

System Information
Operating system: Win 7 64-bit
Graphics card: AMD Radeon R7 240

Blender Version
Broken: blender-2.80.0-git.6529d20d79a5-windows64 (the 12th of june) and a few older ones
Worked: some april and may builds

Short description of error
The Child Of constraint appears to be snapping the bones with this constraint back to rest pose

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
(This only happens to bones from a armature)

  1. Create an armature, and make a few bones
  2. Make an ik out of it, dublicate a bone and name it as a Goal bone to control the ik
  3. Make controllers
  4. give the goal bone a Child Of constraint and make it be the child of that controller
  5. now that the Goal bone controls the ik, and follows ever transform from the parented controller, set the first keyframe in the timeline, and go to the next frame
Do not animate the controller, animate the Goal bone. Animating the controller won't do anything

when a bone has a child of constraint, it will be difficult to animate it since it snaps to its original rest position after you inserted a keyframe and move to the next frame.

Got a .blend showing the problem?

Just move the goal (not the controller) somewhere, set the keyframe and then move to the next frame

This seems to be fixed in current code? At least cannot reproduce this issue here…
