Viewport shading type is changed from "Rendered" to "Solid" when saving/reverting project

Whether in EeeVee or Cycles or Workbench renderer, setting the viewport shading to "Rendered", saving the project, and then reverting the project changes the viewport shading type to "Solid".

This does not happen for wireframe, solid, or lookdev, all of which are properly recalled when loading a project.

This is by design and has been working so for many years. The reasoning behind this is that when loading a big scene the screen will stall as it is initializing the renderer. To reduce the stall blender will switch back to solid mode and let the user decide if he wants this stall to happen.

I see, that makes sense.

I'm not an expert user, but maybe it makes sense to preserve the "rendered" shading state if the selected renderer is Workbench?

(I'm also unclear on the differences between shading with LookDev vs. Rendered when the selected renderer is EeeVee, so maybe there is a case to be made there as well?)
