Short description of error
error when add a tree with the sapling tree_gen addon.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
by default start, delete the cube and add a plane => then add curve => sapling tree_gen = error!

Cannot reproduce on Linux with the 6-29 daily build.

Curious that you are getting an error about a Cube.
Do you have the problem if you start with factory settings?

Hello Stephen;

When i setup a new install of the same blender-version in a new folder and start, i get the same error.
Then i load the factory-settings, and the problem seems solved => SaplingTree works... so far so good...

But when i activate some addons the bug is back!
I have activated and deactivated the addons to find out wich one is the bad-guy, but nothing changes.
Only when i load the factory-settings SaplingTree works.

I have also tested the last blender build from today (2.80 Beta Linux 64 bit June 29, 23:04:38 - be060c3990ad
but same effects; factory settings works, but after activate some addons the bug is back.

On win 8.1 64bit no problems with the last 3 2.8 builds, seems like only linux is affected.

Here my .blend file with the bug:

I can't reproduce this bug on Linux with the steps you mention, except if i add fake user to the cube before deleting it.

I made a patch that should solve this problem soon.

btw: how to delete a fake user?

i found a workaround to fix? the problem on my second linux-machine with the same bug:

delete everything in the scene/layer/etc and save the file as new start-file, and save the project
(nothing to save but necessary...) close blender.
start blender and load factory-settings.
save as start-file and close blender.
delete the 2.8 scripts-folder in .config/blender.
start blender, and SaplingTree works (also with activated addons)

i did the same steps on my first-linux-machine and it works so far, but now my DecalMachine addon
loads the preview-icons extremely slow (when pressing D) (before fixing it loads immediately)
i think this is not a blender bug, but a interesting effect, because removing the addon and cleaning all folders and reinstall
did not solve the problem (i will contact the developer...)

have someone else the same problem withDecalMachine 1.8.6 ?
