Small correction to the report: This doesn't work from the context menu.
@ideasman42 I tried various operator contexts, but it seems to fail every time. The error must be somewhere else.

Can confirm the first (doing this from 3DView camera context menu)
Cannot confirm the second (doing this from the properties Editor on the distance seems to work -- lacks the proper cursor though...)

Oops, @WilliamReynish was quicker, will keep assigned to me anyways...
@lichtwerk sorry, the second seems work, the 11.4m display as 11m, 11.1 display as 11m so lots as 11m, and the strange cursor, Let me mistake, and think it not work.
