System Information
Operating system: Darwin-18.6.0-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: AMD Radeon Pro 560X OpenGL Engine ATI Technologies Inc. 4.1 ATI-2.9.26

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.80 (sub 74), branch: master, commit date: 2019-07-11 13:50, hash: 06312c6d2d
Worked: version: 2.80 (sub 74), branch: blender2.7, commit date: 2019-06-10 09:16, hash: 8aa87972ca

Short description of error
I created a project with the version stated above (under "Worked") which looked fine (see screenshot-28-beta). Today I downloaded 2.8 RC and opened the same file and looks like shown in screenshot-28-RC.
If I disable "Contact Shadows" for "Back Light.001" or I tweak its parameters I can achieve what I had in the beta version.
I thought about reporting this given the noticeable difference, hoping to help spot something odd.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open the attached Blender project (bowling.blend) in the version specified in "Worked"
  2. Open the attached Blender project (bowling.blend)in the version specified in "Broken"
  3. Compare the results: look as intended in step 1 vs broken looks in step 2

Note: I'm also attaching another project (bulb.blend) which shows a similar problem

Your normals are flipped. Flippednormals.jpg After fixing them{F7611966}, the viewport shadows appear to be the same in both versions.RC_viewport_withfixednormals.jpg

I wouldn't consider this a bug then.

Thank you, guys!
I can confirm it looks good when flipping the normals.
I thought on reporting this given that in the beta version I was using it displayed alright even though the normals are flipped too.

Thanks again!
