Padded Zeroes in filenames Not Working #67187

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Blender Version
Broken: 2.8 latest build (687f1df5db)

Short description of error
Adding hashes (#) in my filename output does not let me save an image with a number of padded zeroes- the image simply does not save at all. (See "File Path" section on this page .)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Using any scene set to export to image files, set the exporting file path to "//#####.PNG" or "/tmp\#####.PNG."
  2. Render the scene. What should happen is that a file with zeroes padded up to 5 digits should be outputted, but no file gets saved at all.

Here is an example .blend that should save "F00001.PNG" upon render.

Blender does not save still renders to the hard drive by default. You need to save them manually from the image editor. When rendering as animation the naming scheme is applied correctly. Unless I'm missing something everything works as intended. A similar question has been asked on the Blender StackExchange , perhaps this may help you.

Working fine here (getting correctly padded images).

Are you using CTRL+F12 or Render > Render Animation? (otherwise images are not saved automatically as @rjg pointed out)
Also see the manual .

Assume this was the issue, will archive for now (if this was about something else, please dont hesitate to comment again and we can always reopen...)
