Materials do not apply to objects.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create new file, with the default cube selected go to materials, click Base Color and set any color of your choosing.

I'm not the only person that has this problem. I'm following a tutorial on Udemy and another student had the same problem as I am. He is on a macOS High sierra version 10.13.6. Capture.PNG

works well here on linux RC2

you simply forgot to select 'Lock Dev' or 'Rendered' in the 'Viewport Shading' or
if you want change 'Workbench' material color you must change 'Color' inside 'Viewport Display', in 'Material' tab

My apologies. I just noticed that. It didn’t say to follow those steps in the tutorial I was using. I’ll let the other students know. Thank you.
