Font options reset after switching modes #70566

Operating system: Linux
Graphics card: AMD RX480

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.81, b155ece0c0, master, 2019-10-05)

Short description of error
Font Area options, such as Italic, Underline, Bold and Small Caps are reset switching modes.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Add a text object;
Go to Object Data properties, and enable any one of the options described above;
Go to Edit Mode;

The configurations have been reset.

Interestingly, I uncovered that the opposite does not occur. If in edit mode I changed the options, when I go back to object mode the options mantain! Interesting... I'll see if I can solve this tomorrow :)

I don't think it's a bug, it takes the current character setting when in edit mode.
In object mode you can't specify which character you want to edit, so maybe it's a UI problem.

Although I understand what you mean, I disagree with you on the UI part. It's a lot more intuitive to think "I enabled underline, but to add more text I need to go to edit mode", than simply not having that option present at all, or maybe greyed out.

It's also more intuitive to do that than have the option to change the setting in object mode, and then have them be reset when going to edit mode. It makes even less sense taking into consideration that when going from edit mode to object mode this reset does not happen.

So yeah, I think as it stands right now, I believe this is a bug, but a small one.
