When i attempt to import an STL file nothing imports

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

We require exact steps to reproduce the problem, which in this case means an example .stl file that fails to import.

Please also mention the exact Blender version tested, and verify if the issue still exists in the latest daily build:

I go to File >Import >import.stl>file selection dialog box opens, I choose the .stl file and double click, or click "import .stl" in the top right corner and the dialog box closes > back to Blender main interface, and no object has been imported.
