Short description of error
If you search for "ring" or something similar in the search menu "edge rings" is not found.
"Edge Rings" can be found in select -> edge loops -> edge rings

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. open blender
  2. select default cube
  3. enter edit mode
  4. select one edge
  5. bring up search menu (F3)
  6. type "rings"
  7. notice that there is nothing

IMO this is not a bug, with ringS i not find nothing, but with rin or ring as Edge Ring Select work all fine on 2.81 f61a8a2abd07 and 2.80 f6cb5f54494e (stable) on linux OpenSUSE Tumbleweed/KDE, AMD FX8350, 16GB DDR3, GTX690 2+2 GB VRam- Nvidia drivers 435.21

Edge ring select is not the same, though. Edge ring select is the operator that is triggered when you Ctrl Alt Right Mouse button (on right click select).

When choosing "edge ring select" from the search menu there seems to be different bug (or limitation) as well.
It will allways select the ring closest to the mouse. This is not useful, though when selecting from a menu.

And with "edge ring select" you can not select multipe rings while with "select->edge loops -> edge ring" you can

that’s because the operator is Multi Select Loops, with a specific setting, as you can check e.g. in the redo panel… There is no bug here, thanks for the report anyway.
