System Information
Operating system: macOS 10.14.6 on i7
Graphics card: AMD M395X 4Gb

Blender Version
Broken: c601839176
Worked: 12688a6636

Short description of error
When working in viewport, objects and icons disappear

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
To track this issue down I've compiled a lot of versions to narrow it down.
This commit is causing the issue.

What I did to test is:
start blender
switch to top ortho
add curve->circle
go into edit mode
scroll (zoom) in/out
go into object mode
scroll (zoom) in/out
Observe if Object/Icons disappear
Screenshot 2019-10-10 at 20.34.59.png

Thanks for looking into it,
Roel

Clement,

Just downloaded a version from the buildbot instead of my own.
Same thing happens..
Started to think about it.. I had never tried this with factory default settings.
It seems that the behaviour is not shown when starting fresh. Maybe it has to do with some setting I've set that triggers this.
I'm going through them all now.
Is there anything (setting) you can think of that could trigger the disappearance of those icons and objects? Especially in regards to the patch?
Would help me out a lot to pinpoint why it happens

After testing every single option I have disabled/enabled it comes down to the preference setting: Auto Depth
(use_mouse_depth_navigate) Enabling it causes the objects and icons to disappear after zooming in/out a couple of times

Hope this helps

I think this was the same issue that #71147. Can you confirm that with latest master or next 2.82 buildbot build?

Hi Clément,

thanks for linking the issue to my report. You were right to do so!
I've updated/compiled blender right away and after a factory default, I can no longer reproduce my issue, so thanks very much!

Regards,

Roel
