File Browser: Can't Select/Delete Favorites Bookmark When File Path Is Missing
Open, Confirmed, LowPublic

System Information
Operating system: Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 960/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 436.30

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.82 (sub 1), branch: master, commit date: 2019-10-17 15:41, hash: rB3a3da6baa3e3
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Can't select/delete an existing Favorites Bookmark in the Blender File Browser if the path no longer exists on your OS. You have to recreate the path to enable select/delete again.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Create a Favorites Bookmark in the Blender File Browser that links to a folder on your OS.
  2. Close the Blender File Browser.
  3. Delete the folder in your OS the Bookmark links to.
  4. Open the Blender File Browser.
  5. The Bookmark is now gray and can't be selected/deleted. (Hovering over the link does show the original path.)

To reverse this:

  1. Close the Blender File Browser.
  2. Recreate the original path in your OS the bookmark originally linked to (see 5 above).
  3. Open the Blender File Browser.
  4. The Bookmark can now be selected/deleted.

Event Timeline

Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) lowered the priority of this task from Needs Triage by Developer to Confirmed, Low.

I can confirm.
This seems like a bad design issue.
So assign to @William Reynish (billreynish)?
Cc @Bastien Montagne (mont29)

This has been an historical limitation for ages (read, the beginnings of Blender). A limited workaround was added some years ago (the 'Cleanup' option that will remove all invalid entries), but yeah, making invalid entries selectable is another task...

I would rather consider that as a TODO than a bug though. @Julian Eisel (Severin) may also be interested by that topic?
