Short description of error
Metaballs instanced through Vertex or Face Instance aren't rendered when you press F12. They do appear on the rendered viewport however. This happens with both Cycles and Eevee

I also experienced the same, albeit in Blender 2.80 main release, when using it as a particle object, The meta ball was used as a Dynamic paint object, for displacement. The displacement worked, but the metaball itself doesn't show. Thought it was my pc, since its somewhat weak. The Main metaball itstelf, renders

I believe this is another occurrence of T69753. Not in a place where Blender is available at the moment; will check in a few hours when I'm back at the studio.

I find the behavior of this blend file the same as that in T69753.
