System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.3.0-23-generic-x86_64-with-debian-buster-sid 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 430.50

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.81 (sub 16), branch: master, commit date: 2019-11-14 09:40, hash: c25a910e4e
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
When I launch a render with Blender 2.81 the process goes to completion and then restart without stopping at the end of frames set. It then overwrite the previous files unless I disable the overwrite check then it creates new files and so on.
I did run Blender in terminal with the --debug flag and got the following error :
<</home/yves/.config/blender/2.81/scripts/addons/render_button.py:1887
/home/yves/.config/blender/2.81/scripts/addons/render_button.py:1887
TypeError: renderCancel() takes 2 positional arguments but 3 were given
/home/yves/.config/blender/2.81/scripts/addons/render_button.py:1887
/home/yves/.config/blender/2.81/scripts/addons/render_button.py:1887

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Just run the attached blend file with the scene set up to test a rendering Blender_issue_rendering_in_loop.txt

Looking for the issue of rendering processes not stopping, I did delete the config file located in .config. Then run again a render and got no problems. The render did stop at the end of the frame sequence. So it could seem that a corruption in the blend file located in the .config/ where all the custom setup are recorded???
I'll check more on that..

First I did delete the .config/blender/2.81 directory and everything below. Then I did run Blender 2.81 so that it did create a new setup in .config...
I did run the test render and everything went fine, no repetitive rendering ..
I did then erase the newly created setup in .config/blender and replaced it with the old one and there I got again a rendering loop without being able to stop it other than killing Blender.
So it looks like it is in the config that something went wrong.
At that stage I am not sure as to where to look and for what to look...
But otherwise rendering works correctly without restarting endlessly..

Could this be an Addon [as you say Factory Settings are working fine...]?

Please try disabling all Addons (and enabling them one by one again) to find if we have a culprit here....
