Short description of error
In 2.79, I could change a bolt's settings by clicking the bolt (i.e. in the 3d view screen), then clicking over to the Object tab, whether old, newly added, or the result of a duplicate operation.
In 2.80 and 2.81, when I add a bolt, I get the popup where I can set the new bolt's properties, but once I've committed the bolt, there is no way that I can find to edit it (even if all it did on 2.79 was just overwrite the existing mesh with the new bolt). I have checked pretty much every location I could think of, to no avail, in both Object Mode and Edit Mode.

hi, in 2.81/2 you can right click and there's a menu item to "Change Bolt". this is not a bug. but I did find another one for which I will create a new task. thanks.
In my key mapping, right click only selects an object with no pop-up menu.
Maybe you mean the "object context" menu? Ok, I can get that by pressing "W".
This reveals two issues:
If I select a bolt and open the context menu, I see the "Change Bolt" option, but only if I selected a bolt created under 2.8x; any bolts created in 2.79 do not offer this option.
If I add a bolt, then select it and change it per the above, and then immediately add a second bolt (by doing
Add -> Mesh -> Bolt
again), this second bolt overwrites the first one, as though I were still trying to change that one. It keeps doing this no matter how many times I try... unless: if I add some other mesh such as a cube, the next add-bolt action indeed creates a new bolt.to address your 2 issues:
bolts created in 2.8 use different methods than bolts created in 2.79. The "change bolt" option is new function in 2.8. It's interesting that you tested this out, but not a bug. it's not supported. 2.8 treats scripts as new, new code, new ideas.
Your second issue could be valid, I'll check this out. I created a bug report as you have seen. Feel free to add your issue to the bug report and we can continue there.
Thanks again, I found the bug when testing your initial report. This will lead to fixes. :)
