EEVEE transparency problem with mtpaint PNG
Closed, InvalidPublicDESIGN

I did check of transparency of PNG images in blender 2.81 (linux version).
I found this minor bug. It only occurs when using mtpaint. KRITA images worked fine,
as shown in image below. Also I should mention that cycles rendering showed the transparency fine. No problems there!!!

Here is how to reproduce the problem...

  1. new gimp document -no alpha channel - paint with brush
  2. save as PNG format with no alpha channel
  3. mtpaint ---> open the PNG document
  4. save the document - one color chosen to be transparent - PNG format
  5. blender - images > Images as planes

EEVEE rendering doesn't respect the transparent region.
Cycles rendering does respect the transparent region.
I did the same procedure with KRITA substituting for mtpaint and there was no problem.

Thank you for your report.

Both image planes' transparency appear the same to me in both Cycles and EEVEE when I open your file.

I added a purple cube behind the two image planes to make it clear that the KRITA plane is transparent where the alpha channel is black (0).

On the left side of my screenshot, you can see that the mtpaint image's alpha channel is completely white (1)

I tested this with both 2.81 and 2.82 (sub 6), branch: master, commit date: 2020-01-03 10:02, hash: rB9b74e648c512

This appears to be an issue with mtpaint, not Blender, so I will close it.
