Short description of error
Enabling adaptive subdivision in the Subdivision Modifier panel breaks
Col
attribute passing inside a shader.Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Enable Cycles with experimental
Enable Cycles render in the viewport
Add vertex color to your mesh
Add
Col
node in the shader and assing your Vcol property in it and plug that into surface input directly so you can visualize itMake sure you can see your Col in the render
Add Subd modifier to your mesh and enable adaptive
Check the render while you enable and disable the adaptive feature.
See the images below for what happens
No adaptive (works)
Adaptive (broken)

Adaptive subdivision breaks Col attribute passingto Adaptive subdivision breaks Col attribute passing in CyclesChanged status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Confirmed'

You're supposed to use the dedicated 'vertex color' node now if you want the same results. This isn't an issue specific to microdisplacement.
Added subscriber: @brecht
Both Attribute and Vertex Color nodes are supposed to work.

Arching this task, this is listed as a To Do in #53901 (Cycles adaptive subdivision tasks).
