Blender 2.8 vs 2.82
Hi all, have just put out a music video which was made entirely in Blender which is 99% made up of 'images on planes'..both Still artwork & 4k alpha prores video files filmed against greenscreen .
I stayed with V2.8 until the video was complete (link here for the curious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOcFyToXRwg).
The project loads up fine into the newer V2.82 (apart from volumetrics, see my other post).....however, if I import a new alpha image using the 'import images as a plane' function, the image appears washed out.
I did a bit of digging , & its a simple enough fix...it seems that the whole 'import-image-as-a-plane' function has been re-written to use different shaders/nodes.
It actually looks simpler than the previous setup, but the (new) Principled BSDF shader used has a default SPECULAR setting of 0.5...when it should really be 0...or else the image imports washed out
I've included for screen grabs.
Bug or by design ? Hoping a bug as would be handy not have to adjust this manually with every import.
Cheers, & keep up the great work. Blender is amazing.

The Principled BSDF was introduced to the add-on in patch D5610 for better compatibility with the exporters and commited in

.@mont29 Any opinion on changing the default specularity to match the previous look?

I think in most cases, this new behavior is actually preferred over the old (diffuse only) setup.
Think there is no way to find the best solution for all, would not consider this a bug...

I think this ticket can be closed. Either the specular value can be adjusted or the Shadeless option can be used.
