Can't get the image sequence to work together with force "Texture" #75198

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: GTX1070

Blender Version
Broken: 2.83 (sub 11), branch: master, commit date: 2020-03-31 10:18, hash: b74e388617
Worked: 2.80

Short description of error

  • I create an image sequence and use it as a texture (in texture properties). I set amount of frames (250), start (1), cyclic (true) and autorefresh (true).
  • I use that image sequence texture as a force - "Texture" (external force). Set the force strength to 1 (but the value does not matter). All the images in the image sequence for the texture is of type RGB and is correct colored for moving some areas in the Z-direction (some areas has (RGB) 0.5,0.5,0.5 that stands still and some dots have 0.5,0.5,1 to move up).
  • I create a plane with 10 000 particles or more. They are all created at frame 1, but have a lifetime of 250. I also tried creating them through all 250 frames... but same result.
  • Now when I run my animation all particles that is in phase with the first image in the image sequence will move up.
...then nothing follows, so all the textures (250 frames in total in the image sequence) will not refresh the force. It only recognize the very first image.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open file
  • Load images to field texture
  • Play animation

Have you checked auto refresh in image texture node properties?

If auto refresh doesn't help, please upload sample .blend file so we can investigate.

Hi,
Since it was not supported to pack image sequences according to Blender... but the file was so big... I still hope that all the images are there as well. If not, then shout and I'll add them.

What I have done is a paintmap image sequence created by particles and now I would like the emitter to "mirror" the sequence... but as you can see it only uses the first image of the complete image sequence.

There aren't any images in your file, but I can insert my own set of images. That is what I did, and it worked right away. Have you checked your images, if they have correct data?

Also please check if clicking on File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings helps.

Perhaps you can send few (~10) images to check with data you use?

Hi,

I have tried all on my machine and it does not work with the .blend I sent to you earlier. Also tried on version v2.83.2.. but exactly the same result. First image gives a push of particles upwards... but it never continues in a circular shape... which would be the result if all 250 images was used.
Here is the total package of images I used for the test.
Hope you find a reason for this not working with me.

Looking into #85139 atm. so it makes sense to check this alongside as well.
