System Information
Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
3.33 GHz 6-core Intel Xeon
48GB Ram
Operating system: MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave)
Graphics card: Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8GB
Blender Version
Broken:2.82a, master, 2020-3-12
Worked: unknown (new user)
Short description of error
Turning on Motion Blur causes rendering errors - material colour and even parts of background object disappear.
Windows version on same machine (dual boot set up) does not produce these errors.
See attached image for example.

Please add a simple blend file that can help redo the bug.
donut.blend

For me 2.82a completely crashes if motion blur is activated (crashlog attached) and I try to render image, with the latest 2.83alpha (hash:
0062813c73
) it also crashes.@robh in your blender file all textures are missing (you can do that with: File --> External Data --> Pack all into .blend)

Also see if there's something to be simplified & extraneous elements removed.
If you could zip it before uploading, it'd be great.
Sorry about that. Here is the packed and zipped blender file.
donut.blend.zip
Seems like it works with Blender 2.81a

With eevee,
it seems to be working fineit at least doesn't crash. With cycles, it crashes while rendering the same frame (and maybe more).
remember to turn on motion blur for eevee.

By removing the sprinkles it's looking fine, seems like there is a bug with particle system and motion blur.

I simplified the file a bit:
donut5.blend
As soon as the particle system is resimulated, it seems to work again. The issue appears to be in the cache already, I'm not entirely sure though...
Are you able to reproduce this issue from scratch in the latest Blender version? If yes, how exactly?
I downloaded and tried out the donut5.blend file and it seemed to be working fine. But then I tried to animate the icing object by having it move across the screen. Once the movement started, the icing and the sprinkles totally disappeared for almost the rest of the movement.
Frame 1
Keyframe to move starts in frame 4 and icing disappeared.
It starts to reappear in frame 23.
By frame 27, you can see most of the icing, but the sprinkles are way behind.
It is not until frame 32 that the sprinkles suddenly appear on the icing, which coincided with the keyframe to stop moving.
If I remove the sprinkles from the icing, the animation renders as expected.

I think it might be a bit more complicated than just motion blur + particles, as I was able to render an animation (also a doughnut) with sprinkles and motion blur.
For me the problem started when I added a mantaflow simulation on top of the existing motion blur and particles. See "Part Five.blend" that I attached to the duplicate issue #77084. Strangely I can render some frames from that particular file, just not the first few. The later frames can be rendered as stills.
Reproducible on Catalina and with Blender 2.82a and 2.83.
Out of curiosity, I downloaded Blender beta 2.9.0 and did a render of the original file and there was no crash or render error.

I checked @ashtonkemerling 's part five.blend,
@kane_rogers 's crash.blend
And @robh 's donut.blend
On
97c6c4e478
, 2.83.5, 2.83.4 and couldn't get any crash while rendering the files with cycles.Darwin 18, Intel HD 6000.
Since I was able to get the crash before and not now (and also that @robh confirmed in #75238#986288 ), closing this report.
For improper renders, reopening #77084.
