VDB cache not updated overtime when you use F12 to render. But fine in viewport. (2.83 beta) #76468

Operating system: Windows-10 Pro 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce RTX 2070

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.83 beta hash: d8133b3eb99a

Short description of error
VDB cache didn't update overtime when using F12 render. But It works fine in viewport preview.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Load VDB cache from any source. (or open existing blender file that has Volume imported).
  2. Render the any frame you like. (the first render always work, you have get the exact result you want).
  3. Move your timeline playhead to another frame, and click render(F12), the whole scene should be updated except the fire (still stay as previous frame). But in viewport, the fire display properly.

PS the file is a bit too big, around 150mb also the cache (from Houdini, 31GB), but I'm sure it's a common problem, let me know if you need the exact file.

Would be good to have a (minimal) example .blend file [please make this as small as possible, not 31GB] for others to reproduce, yes.

Hi! I'm back... Little work before I have time.

I just upload a zip file that contains one blend file and several VDB files. The same sim I did above, but a low res version.

When I create a new file to replicate the bug, I found acritical step that leads to failure. When you first import the volume VDB, it should work fine (even in F12 mode), but then when you play with grid panel, like click into different channels (to visualize different volume), the render start fails and won't update anymore.
