Graphics card: GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming Z 6G

[Complete system Hardware]
ASUS P9X79 WS Motherboard
Intel Core i7-3930K @ 3.2 GHz (not overclocked)
Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1
32 GB RAM
Samsung 850 EV 1 TB SSD (System C: drive) Connected via SATA
6 other Western Digital Hard drives for Data connected via SATA
GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming Z 6G
Corsair AX860 (860W) + Platinum Certified Power Supply

Blender Version
Broken: (version 2.82a)
Worked: (2.79 32 bits but not 2.79 64 bit)

Short description of error
I am getting instant crashes when trying to use the menus in Blender 2.82a. I can move the box around the screen and navigate all right, but as soon as I try to use a function on a menu (the menu does open) like checking for the add-ons that are installed, or trying to import an .fbx file, or even the Save system info, upon clicking Save or Cancel or Import – any option that is available for the menu, Blender crashes instantly to the desktop. No error message.

When running blender 2.82a from the command line I get the following exception error message in the command window:

Things I have tried that have had no effect i,e. identical instant crashes

  1. Downloaded portable version and tried to run it.
  2. added the --factory-startup switch to load and run
  3. Changed the keymap loaded, based on the Warning: property 'release_confirm' not found in keymap item 'OperatorProperties' seen in the command line window above

@C_Man Does the crash still happen with the 2.83 beta build? ( https://builder.blender.org/download/ )

Yes, Nathan. I just downloaded the 2.83 beta build from the link you provided and the crash remains exactly as before.

@C_Man your crash looks very similar to #75449 .

Can you please try updating your wintab driver? Or maybe even try the workaround mentioned in #75449#904750 ?

@C_Man Could you try with the last win32 build here to check if that works?

I'm thinking there's a issue with MSVCR90.dll as that's called for x64 architecture.

Thanks very much Nathan and Christopher! Both solutions worked! Simply renaming wintab32.dll solved the issues for the 64 bit version of 2.82a and the latest build of the 32 bit version (2.81) that Christopher requested I try, worked without renaming the wintab32.dll. So some conflict between MSVRC90.dll and wintab32.dll I guess.

I am extremely impressed by the follow-up and acumen of this community. Thanks very much to all.
