Same issue with blender-2.90.0-731d9f0bfa40-windows64 and 2.83.2 release
Short description of error
So to reproduce:
I assume, that problems caused by dynamic mesh load/unload.
Please make it optional. It causes low fps, especially on dyntopo zooms.

Sculpt mode. Performance issuesto Sculpt mode. Performance issues with zoomAdded subscriber: @iss
I am unable to reproduce this issue. But this sounds more like a feature request than a bug.
try with this file
tstт1.7z
Can't reproduce even on your file. Does this happen when you click on File > Defaults > Load Factory Settings and retry steps to reproduce?
@iss yes, the same issue with factory settings.
Brush have no automasking. Mesh do not have multires.

And here, when I add 2nd viewport Blender just hanging :(
2020-07-23_12-52-54.mp4
This problem started to annoy me since autohide was implemented. But usually I keep second viewport with fully loaded mesh, so it not appear in this case.

I am not sure what the problem could be. It would definitly help if you could narrow this down somehow and I will re-check. Otherwise another developer with setup similar to yours would have to reproduce this.
@iss okay, I'll try to find more details.
One more setup with same issue.

— fps for brush circle a bit slower, but not so noticable.Common issue. With heavy mesh, fps in viewport go much lower just after enabling Dyntopo.
2020-08-27_10-52-18.mp4
CPU and GPU usage during rotation without dyntopo
And with dyntopo
What else can I test by my own?
Tested under Lubuntu. Issue is the same. So it is not OS/driver issue.

I am out of ideas with this case.
@lichtwerk can you check this?
Changed status from 'Needs Developer To Reproduce' to: 'Confirmed'
I can confirm.
For me, it is even simpler to reproduce:
it looks like 2.82 behaves better, but I have not timed this yet
Sculpt mode. Performance issues with zoomto Sculpt mode. Performance issues after enable/disable dyntopo with zoomEven 2.79 have lower fps after еnabling dyntopo and slower Grab brush, despite Grab do not create new topology.
Strange thing.
In 2.79 fps is low with dintopo+solid but become fast again with dyntopo+material
2020-08-29_17-46-25.mp4
With dyntopo enbled mesh uploading (unhiding) is few times slower.
2020-08-29_17-53-11.mp4
So it looks like a lot of unnecessary geometry uploading and unloading

Same performance issue appears on zoom after few minutes of work. Even without dyntopo.

I'm experiencing a very similar issue, although I am not using dyntypo.
To trigger the lag, I only need to jump in and out of sculpt mode.
To fix, I zoom out and zoom in.
I'm on latest build(s) of Manjaro Linux using an nVidia 1060 w/ latest drivers (455). Can replicate this problem in Blender 2.91 and 2.92 Alpha (Dec 24th).
In the example, I'm using a freshly imported hi-poly OBJ file

Here's the Sketchfab (OBJ) model I'm testing on, which you can download and test for yourself.

I'm now wondering just how long I've been experiencing this issue, as I've noticed significant jumps and drops in performance... for the past few months, at least. Most of the time I've been just experiencing the lag, and always wondering how everyone is able to have such snappy feedback. I often work with photogrammetry scans.
P.S. I hope you guys have good garbage collecting, as I've uploaded the demo video a handful of times, with different names, before I got it correct. Sry!
