System Information
Operating system: Linux-5.7.0-1-amd64-x86_64-with-debian-bullseye-sid 64 Bits
Graphics card: Quadro RTX 5000/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 440.100

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.83.3, branch: master, commit date: 2020-07-22 06:01, hash: 353e5bd749
I've seen some people reporting that it does work for them. I haven't seen this working neither on 2.83 LTS or the new 2.91 builds.

Short description of error
The RTX 5000 GPU card on my machine is deemed "not compatible" for Cycles rendering using OptiX

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Check on System -> Cycles Renderer Devices.

(I hope this is not a duplicate -- couldn't find another similar ticket)

@GabrielMontagne Could you please try to update your graphics driver and check if that solves the issue. The most recent one for the Quadro RTX 5000 is 450.57 on Linux.

Thanks. I have a dual-boot, and I tried on Windows and it worked with driver version 455.41.

On Linux, well, it'll take me a bit to check because I'm using the distro provided driver (which otherwise works really well) and I feel hesitant to start messing around with the drivers by hand.

Maybe at some point I'll get drunk and do that. But today I'm sober and it will have to wait.

But that OptiX viewport acceleration - WOW.

Thanks.

I updated to nvidia driver 450.57-3 and the card is still not recognized as OptiX compatible.
I don't think we should consider this task as resolved.

My bad, apologies for the noise! It's working fine. For posterity, I was missing this library: libnvoptix1. Again, thanks for the help.
