Same Happens For me...... Using RX 580 MINING EDITION with Latest Driver (20.8.1)... Tried Installing 20.4.2 WHQL and also Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise (20.Q2.1) Too... Didn't Work....
(I have Literally Tried with Every Radeon Driver Update within the Last 2 Years...)

(Although I stopped to Care after i Got my 3950X Processor, 😁) I thoguht Rx580 MINING EDITION was the only card with the Problem, SO I didn't make any bug report... Because It is really really hard to find a User with Rx580....

(Sometimes, My Whole OS Shuts Down)

Same happens for me with 5600XT (drviers 20.8.1) and blender 2.83.4 from Steam.

Crashes either when rendering with cycles on GPU compute, or enabling shadded preview in the viewport with GPU compute. With the CPU works just fine.

Even a new project, with just the cube, camera and lights.

Same is happening for me as well. 5700XT (drivers 20.8.1) on all 2.8 versions except 2.82. 2.82 renders fine with GPU, but crashes when switching viewport view from solid to rendered and back again.

Hi everyone,

I hope, guys in Blender Team will fixed it soon. Maybe in 2.9.x. I read about this problem in different forums and lots of people have the same problem with AMD cards. I spend some money on this card and now i can't change it now for nVidia 2060 super or higher to render in Optix or Cuda (with CUDA Error from time to time). Im not sure its windows update problem, Amd Software problem or blender problem, so im w8ting with big hope for bug fixes. GW2 is working so i can play instead :P

i Cant do 3D stuff at home and im very sad :(

Could you run blender_debug_gpu.cmd (in the main Blender folder), make Blender crash as described in the report and upload the blender_debug_output.txt and blender_system_info.txt?
It will help the developers debug the issue if they can't reproduce it immediately.

Sure thing, I just opened a new file (original cube, light and camera) chose cycles with GPU compute and click on shader view, after loading render kernels it just crashed.

Can Anyone please tell me, How much it takes for loading The Render Kernel On your System? FOr me It's Like Over a Minute

There seems to be an Problem with the AMD Drivers, on my RX5700 the system locks up completely and requires a shutdown.

The only workaround that works for me are the the older 20.4.2 Drivers.
Some people have luck with the AMD Pro Drivers wich you can get here AMD Pro Drivers

Maybe you guys can test these aswell.

I don't know alot about code but maybe this is helpful for the devs.

So i had a look around the cycles code and found a workaround wich seems to work for the pro drivers Fix #77095: fix Cycles performance regression with AMD RX cards , these use the openCL Version 3075.13.

The new Adrenaline Drivers (20.8.1) use OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (3110.7), and the code checks for the version above.

return !(driver_major == 3075 && driver_minor <= 12);

Since most of us crash on compiling render kernels maybe something is going on there
But on the other hand the code states

Note that OpenCL selects the highest 1.x version by default, only for 2.0 do we need the explicit compiler flag.

Maybe this helps, have a great day everyone.

Is this duplicate report to #75319?

So far I have read through reports and comments that you have problems, but I see no steps how to cause such problem. Can you either confirm that this is same report or add steps to reproduce problem?

Yes seems to be the same Issue according to the pictures. The Steps to reproduce are the exact same.

I'm having this problem as well. Even just trying to render the default cube without changing anything causes Blender to crash without any error message:

Hi i got another Report from a User where i guided him to get cycles to run on a RX 5600 XT - however the Issue is that Blender closes after compiling shaders be it in Live Preview aswell as rendering. Hes using Win 10 with drivers tested 20.9.1 and 20.9.2.

In Console theres first during Shader Compilation an error thrown ( See Screenshots & Log ). Other Applications also such as RadeonProRender worked just fine - @Sergey btw one of you could get in Contact with Brian Savery from AMD - hes doing the RPR Integration - probably also the right Guy for the new GPU Stack integration. :) blender_system_info (1).txt
