Blender 2.9 crashes while editing object with many meshes(used Sppling tree gen addon) #81337

Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 452.06

Broken: version: 2.90.0, branch: master, commit date: 2020-08-31 11:26, hash: 0330d1af29
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Blender crushes while entering UV edditor on object with many meshes

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
All in my blend file:
1 - Select leafs object
2 - Go to UV Editing tab
3 - In editor type screen open some image(no matter what a image)
4 - Profit!

Hi, thanks for the report, but that's a huge file. Could you provide instructions to generate a similar tree that also crashes?

There step by step(i was also confused how fast growed file):
1: Add a Sample tree gen(before you need to active addon)
2: Settings-> geometry tab: set scale to 50
3: Settings-> Branch Radius tab: Set Ratio to 0.02
4: Settings-> Branch Splitting tab:
a) Set levels to 4
b) Set in Branches column next values: 10, 20, 40, 80
5) Settings -> Branch growing tab:
a) In Length column set next values: 1, 0.6, 0.6, 0.5
b) In Vertical attraction column set values: 2, -1, -0.3, -0.3
6) Settings-> Leaves tab: Set leaves value to 50, set check box "Show Leaves" to active.
Here you already hit about 250 mb, to reach 500 mb do next steps(but isn't matter already, bug still working):
7) Settings -> Armature tab: Active next checkboxes: Use armature, Make mesh.
P.s.: Forgot to add one step(i will edit my main post)

I tried this (up to the "250 mb" mark you mentioned) and didn't get a crash. I can try it with your final step as well, but if you already had the crash at this point that doesn't seem essential.

Do you think maybe your machine is running out of RAM?

is pretty weird, because i have 16 gb ram. I checked it right now and maximum usage was about 4gb on blender at he's maximum. But GPU and CPU had maximum picks. Is it possible to check the windows logs to be sure that isn't windows shut down blender with critical error?

Also got no crash here.

Please download build from builder.blender.org/
Start blender using blender_debug_log.cmd
Make sure you use only Sample tree gen addon and recheck if crash happens

After crash. upload created files, also open debug_log.txt and et the end of file there should be .crash.txt file mentioned, Upload that file as well.
