NLA Strips disappear on saving on Linked/Library overriden Rigify Rig #81381

System Information
Windows 10
GTX 1060

Blender Version
Broken: 2.90.1

Short description of error
On a Rig character linked into another blendfile, if you add a collection instance, library override, animate the rig, push the animation into the NLA stack and then save, on re-open the animation strips are gone.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
NLA Strips disappear_Source.blend
NLA Strips disappear_Destination.blend

  • Open NLA Strips disappear_Destination.blend
  • Select the rig and add some animations
  • Push the action down into the NLA
  • Save file
  • Re-open

A workaround is to select the Rig, click (shift click? Is there a difference) in the linked icon in the rig Object Properties, but if this is the way it should be done, there maybe should be some sort of warning, or be prevented from pushing the action down until you've done it, in a similar way that you can't edit the blend modes of the NLA strips in the NLA until you've unlinked the rig object.

Confirmed in 2.90.1 and 2.91.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2020-10-21 09:38, hash: 819b1a7f9d
Only a local armature will retain NLA strips.

I checked this with 2.90.1 and 2.92 and I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. I did test this with very simple armature.

Please upload simplest possible example file.

Following the steps from the description, I could reproduce it again in 2.90.1 and version: 2.92.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2020-11-24 15:05, hash: 256a9d983d
An NLA strip on rig is lost, but an NLA strip on meta-rig is saved/restored properly.

Here are example files created in 2.92 alpha:
NLA Strips disappear_Source.blend
NLA Strips disappear_Destination.blend
"NLA Strips disappear_Destination.blend" was saved with a "rigAction" NLA strip on "NlaTrack" of "rig", but it is not there when you open the file.

I can confirm this with this example. This may be bug in addon that created this rig though. Example created by hand without addon would be helpful and maybe necessary.
