Short description of error
When you delete a particle system with show emitter unchecked under Viewport Display the object stays hidden. You have to re-add the particle system and check Show Emitter.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Add Particle System to default cube.
  • Uncheck Show Emitter under Viewport Display
  • Delete Particle System.

Thanks for the report. The UI here is confusing indeed. The issue is that Show Emitter setting is not actually a setting of the particle system, but of the object. It can't be a setting of the particle system, because then you'd run into conflicts when there are multiple particle systems.

Possible fixes would be to rename Show Emitter to something else, that makes this more clear, or to remove the checkbox from the particle settings entirely.

Alternatively, we could just leave it as is, this is really a ui question.
