Delete Branch "%!s(<nil>)"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
This report will probably be incomplete for a while, in the sense that reproduction steps are still unclear, but I thought it would be nice to put this somewhere regardless.
It seems sometimes(and the big question is when) the target object of modifiers on overridden objects gets "lost", in the sense that they remain in an overridden state, but they are being overridden to nothing(no object selected).
So far this only happened about 2 or 3 times, and so far specifically with Surface Deform modifier - perhaps the issue is specific to that one modifier, but perhaps a coincidence.
An example file can be found in the Sprites svn, under
bugs/rex_logbridge_surface_deform_override.blend

But despite the available workarounds, this is an annoyance and could result in major time lost if it continues happening throughout production, so I'd be curious for any theories on what could cause this to happen in the first place, perhaps it's just a mistake on our end on how we're using overrides. Also if it happens again and/or we find out more, I'll update this post.

should prevent this to happen anymore (will not fix existing issues though).Praise the overlord! Thanks a lot! I guess this can be closed, if something like this happens again I'll come and break some hearts and re-open :D but I'm sure it won't! 🙏
