Short description of error
Some bpy.data.images are not shown in the preview icon, This does not allow you to use correctly any template_icon or otherwise have access to the preview icon_id with python

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open the attached project, and click in the Browser menu of the Texture node. You will notice that only the 1k image will show the preview, while the 4k image will not.

Also try to check the pixels of the icon: img.preview.icon_pixels[:]

Very good, really anxious for this fix 🚀
I have noticed this from many previous versions of Blender already. I hoped that with 2.92 it would resolve. But evidently this problem had not been reported previously.
