{F9876542}System Information
Operating system: Mac Os Big Sur
Graphics card: Radeon Pro

Blender Version
Broken: 2.91 and 2.92.

Short description of error

In modeling mode, the object on viewport disappear when try to orbit around it. It seems to be pivoting around a way off center location. I haven't been able to find the issue. Can someone offers some help?

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Don't know.

If trying to orbit without lock to 'Camera to View' selected from the sidebar, it will exit out of camera view into user perspective view. The view that you are seeing is likely the last state of the user perspective view before you entered camera view.

Select 'Camera to View' from the sidebar to orbit in camera mode. Alternatively, frame all objects in user perspective mode by pressing 'Shift Z', or 'Z' for a single selected object to orbit in perspective mode.

Thanks for your replay.

The reason I used the camera view is because is the only way I could frame the object in view. If I switch to perspective I can't see my object. I am not trying to orbit from the camera. If I switch to layout mode everything looks OK.

I managed to frame the model on the viewport, but I still have difficulty centering the selected object and orbit around it. It makes {F9877900}modeling difficult.

It doesn't look like a bug. Just a misunderstanding of how navigation works. The pie menu that you are accessing is for specifying the center of rotation when you rotate an object. It doesn't control the center point for the camera orbit.

When you frame all objects a center point is created that is in the center of all the objects. Even after panning the view will still rotate around this point. If you want to rotate around a particular object you can frame it by going to view -> 'Frame Selected'. I believe the hotkey is 'Numpad .' . Sorry I think I changed my hotkeys so I'm not sure what the defaults are at the minute.

What @JamellMoore said is correct.

Thank you for your report, but this is not a bug. Thanks for your replay.

I will probably need help to learn blender, but certainly not to move around my models. if this is not an issue, then what it is. Configuration? I haven't change default config. See attached video{F9878235}

@screendot Your last video does look a little strange, I would need a (minimal) example project to check what is happening though (only keep one simple object in the project that demonstrates the problem).
