Crashing to Desktop #87320

Hey Team,

I thought I should mention, the last 3+ builds have been having quite a bit of crashing. I'll be in the middle of work, Model window, regular mesh building, low key stuff, and suddenly things go to slow motion and then poof, the scene quietly turns into desktop. Nothing pops up, no warnings except for a pause. It is usually just in the middle of moving things around. I click on something and nothing happens, and then poof. I have been blessed with not losing a lot of work, I am saving ALOT now, just in case, and usually the Autosave has a very good save point.

I have been working in Materials Preview mode (textures visible) and with perhaps 90% of the scene hidden, so it shouldnt be that. I have a massive project with a lot of parts and when they are all visible it does bring the system down.

I noticed yesterday, my computer was going super slow. I went to see if I could find out what it was in Task Manager, and noticed Blender was running 87% of my resources amount. I found that quite surpizing. I have 32 Gigs of RAM, 6 Gigs of VRAM, a nice Intel chip. How could it be running that much system resource? None of my parts have stacks of modifiers. I am running 4K textures, but most of my parts are hidden. When I make a game part export, I use 'Solids' view mode as it runs quick in that setting, materials all hidden or off.

I thought I would let you all know about it. I started downloading daily thinking maybe its fixed. Its been about the past 3 to 4 Alpha builds now.

I hope all is well. Great job on this amazing program. You guys rock! :)

Kind regards,

Bill
LHC

My apologies, you might wish to have this part in there;

Short description of error
Crashing to desktop, sometimes by simply clicking on a part. Its like a memory buildup is occurring and it spikes. I noticed in task manager, it was up into the 80% range or my resources, and it was rising. Something was raising the resource uses in the program. I am getting several crashes a day now, perhaps 2 an hour. Regular, scene, 90+ percent hidden, very low key model working and UVW mapping going on, never seems to crash in the UVW window. Mostly in the Model window.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Working on a part, click another part to move and adjust, and the system starts behaving slow and poof... Gone...
Based on a Blend file, old project.

Did you use "Local View" (Num - [x] key) when modeling?
Because after 2.90 using "Local View" (after exiting from Local view actually) in scene with textured objects, cause to unexpected crashes.

Try the latest daily build and run blender_debug-gpu.cmd that is included in the download.
After Blender closes (due the crash), the logs will be in a text file which can be attached here.
Most likely it will contain more information about the error.
