System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1650 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 456.71

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.91.2, branch: master, commit date: 2021-01-19 16:15, hash: 5be9ef4177
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
There is current solution to find active object in outliner by filter active.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsNpx9VW_u4 How To Focus Selected Objects in Outliner in Blender
But this solution limiting option to manage object in outliner if after filter we see only active object. Eg. we want move active object to some collection or join with other, linking parent or child with other (what is imposible in filer).
Eg. blender not discovering collections in dir if are colapsed.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create many objects in collections with depth tree or depth linked parents/childs.
Try click some active object and find in outliner as focused.

I suggesting to focus active object in collections dir, and discovering collections in dir as open dir if objet from this was clicked by default or by option, eg.

  1. Auto discovering vsible objects in tree.
  2. Auto discovering hiden objects in tree.
  3. Show object in outliner (in relation to point 2. by right click - if dir colapsed, then all path is opened to show object)
