Unable / Issues with selecting armatures in Linux #91345

Operating system: Linux environment running through ChromeOS 93.0.4577.69
Graphics card: Intel UHD Graphics 600
Device: HP Chromebook G8 EE

Broken: 2.93.4
Worked: None others that I could find

The issue is that with armature and bones have an issue with selecting. When I go into either pose mode or edit mode I am unable to select any other bones. If I press on any mode more than once the selection will go to the next bone based on when they were created. Thats not all though. I also cannot box select any either bone. When I box select the first bone it selects all of them at once.

Steps to replicate:

  1. Get a group of armatures rigged together similar to a skeleton.
  2. Attempt to select or box select on either edit mode or pose mode.

Edit from 9/29/21:
Doing more research found that it may be due to using a chromebook with linux. In the terminal it will say "Could not find a matching GPU name. Things may not behave as expected."
This may be the same issue that https://developer.blender.org/T77651 is having but less severe. It says that it has been fixed though so I am unsure if this is the issue.

Does selection work when you open Blender with LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 blender?

Does selection work when you open Blender with `LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 blender`?

Yes, it does. Thank you very much!

For anyone who may run into the same issue put LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 with the file path to the executable (idk why it denied it without the file path)

I actually wasn't proposing this as a solution, this runs Blender with software rasterization, so it is likely to be slower than hardware rasterization.
Since it works fine in this case, then that confirms that the GPU is the one causing the issues.
Can you try disabling Viewport > Selection > OpenGL Depth Picking in the preferences?

Oh, sorry i got excited. I just noticed the slowness issue now. Yes, that does work. Thanks.
