Short description of error
Setting rendering to Optix in Systems through Preference menu, and then rendering with the Optix Denoiser and Cycles renderer gives me this error. Rendering in CUDA, None, and Eevee worked regularly. Using Optix denoising while on Optix rendering greys out viewport.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Swapped out my GTX 1070 for a new RTX 3070. Updated my Mobo's BIOS to the latest driver available. Reinstalled latest GPU drivers from Nvidia as of today (497.29). Tried rendering and denoising through Optix on any Blender file on supported and experimental feature sets using GPU.

Does this mean that rendering default startup file (cube) will fail too? Can you check if this works in 2.93 LTS and latest alpha build form https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/?
Yup. This is happening on the startup file as well. The problem persists when trying it out on the 2.93 Stable LTS, 2.93 Candidate LTS ,and 3.1 Alpha build.

Which driver are you using? You should use 470 or never.
I'm using the 497.29 Game Ready Driver installed from GeForce experience.

Turns out the problem was that on my end, and I haven't been caught up that Optix uses Nvidia's Studio Drivers, and not its Game Ready Drivers. I've switched over my drivers through GeForce Experience and Optix works fine now.

Hi, i updated my drivers to Studio drivers and i still having the error. How can i fix it?
i have windows 10 and a RTX 3060
32GB of RAM
and Ryzen 3700x.
I've had problems with newer drivers. I rolled back to Studio Driver version 472.84.
Oh nice! I´ll try with that version of driver. With optix enable the renders go faster, rigth?
Yes, I've had faster render times with Optix than with just CUDA.
I made the update and worked for me, now i have optix enable with my RTX 3060. Now i´ll enjoy faster render times!
Thank you so much sir!
