Blender Version
Broken: 3.0.0
Worked: 2.93

Under Object Data Properties > Empty > Opacity
Changing the opacity of a reference image seems to change the contrast and not the opacity

Inserted a reference image (.jpg).
Went to Object Data Properties and selected Opacity.
Checking the Opacity box distorts the image to high contrast but does nothing to opacity.
Changing percentage changes the contrast and not the opacity.
Only when set to zero does th image then have 0% opacity. No other setting changes opacity.

I'm not able to reproduce the issue here with at least 2 different .jpgs (and .pngs) here - checked using both nVidia and AMD hardware. Does this occur for all pictures you add? If not, are you able to attach the file that is causing issues and provide a screenshot of what you see?

I tried with some different images as well and seems to only happen to the one now - strange because it happened to a couple that were similar (sketch on white background). Must just be an issues with that one JPG. Image is attached

Hi, thanks for getting back. I don't see any differences between 2.93LTS and 3.0.0

@Workingprint , can you share screenshots (or screen recording) to show the comparison between both versions?

@deadpin , are you able to reproduce with that image?

Still not able to reproduce on my side. Compared to 2.93 things look the same and it seems transparent here when changing the opacity.

I'm not sure how much it helps but can you please check with factory prefs?: {nav Edit > Preferences > Save & Load (3 horizontal lines) > Load Factory preferences}

Can't reproduce it over here. Seems to work fine with the provided image. (3.01, linux,nVidia)

Hi, The issue reported can't be reproduced so far.

We appreciate the effort that goes into making bug reports, but to be able to fix bugs we have to be able to redo them.
If there is anything you can provide to help others to reproduce the problem.

Also, No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.
