Short description of error
Halo artifacts appear when volumetrics is enabled in the "Diffuse Indirect" and "Transmission Indirect" passes, no problem in blender 2.93.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Use Blender 3.1 alpha (Same with Blender 3.0 stable)
  2. Use the "Halo_Bug" attach blend file.
  3. Do F12 render.
  4. Check the "Diffuse Indirect" and "Transmission Indirect" passes.
  5. There is halo outline artifact in person, window opening and sky holes plane.
  6. In the outliner turn off the "Volume Cube" object for rendering.
  7. Do F12 render.
  8. Notice no halo outline artifact in person, window opening and sky holes plane.
  9. Use Blender 2.93.x.
  10. Do F12 render and make sure "Volume Cube" object is enabled.
  11. Notice no halo outline artifact in person, window opening and sky holes plane.
  12. Done.

Notes: The more render samples the more defined the halo artifacts. Seems to occur when their difference object position and/or material.

I tested the fix. The halo issue was solve for the diffuse indirect pass in this scene, but not for the transmission indirect pass.

The halo issue still persist in the diffuse indirect pass in this other scene. Works fine with 2.93. Blend file Halo_Hall_Bug.blend

Can you please reopen this bug report. I check the latest builds and this issue is not resolved when volumetrics is enable works fine in 2.93.

Check the "Halo_Hall_Bug.blend" and notice the halo artifacts in the "Diffuse Indirect" pass and on the "Halo_Bug.blend" the halo artifacts in the "Transmission Indirect" pass.

Can you please reopen this bug report. I check the latest builds and this issue is not resolved when volumetrics is enable works fine in 2.93. Is there any news about the bug?
Will it be fixed in the next Blender version?
The bug has "normal" proprity, but it prevents normal compositing work on renders, which is critical for many projects.
